Basketball Logo Samples

One of the most popular professional basketball teams is the Los Angeles Lakers. No sign of lakes in their logo, of course. Most people don't know that their name came from their origin in Minnesota, where there are lots of lakes (names like George Mikan are lost on all but the diehard history buffs). This is an example of how a logo can be quite simple - basically just a basketball and a name and voila - you have a basketball logo.

The Denver Nuggets logo doesn't even show a basketball, making us realize that logos can be almost whatever we want them to be. If you live in Denver and like basketball, of course, the logo is all you need. The mountain peak reminds you where Denver is and the gold color in the logo lettering carries the nugget theme a little further. Get creative in your logo thinking, whether it's basketball or not.

Here's a simple logo making maximum use of the basketball. You may not know exactly what it means but the WB probably lets you know it has to do with women's basketball. A line such as you see at the bottom of the logo often brings emphasis and is a good item to remember to add to any logo. The logo bounding shape takes its formation from the basketball and carries it down, a nice touch. Get any ideas?

Here we see another example of a basketball logo without a basketball. In this case, the emphasis is on the organization, which has a name that isn't defined only by basketball. To do this and have your logo recognizable, you need to have a name that people will associate with basketball or other sports, of course. The shield seems to give a stamp of authenticity. There's no reason you can't make a logo with your own shield!
