Here is an effective mixing of themes in a business logo design. Rarely
is a complete flag used in a company logo, but this one does it well. The star
centers in the letters make you forget that the rest of that part of the logo
isn't stars, and the vertical lines maintain the same illusion. Your business
may not want to wrap itself in the flag in the process of making its logo, but
you can take away some ideas here. Your company name can effectively be mixed
with any number of graphic images to make a logo that effectively conveys your
business name and perhaps its purpose and goals as well. |

Doesn't this make you want to eat something? As a
business logo, it depends on you knowing that they aren't a produce market. But
then, most logos used by business in the long run expect that the logo
recognition is based on a positive experience, not necessarily what the logo
says about the business itself. We do have here an effective use of color and
balance, however. The green apple leaf at the top of the logo ties in with the
green at the bottom, and the apple shape and the rectangle fit well together.
Your business logo can start with basic elements that feed off your name, if it
is one that lends itself to that. If not, you can use a more generalized graphic
and let your company win you logo recognition. |

How do you make a name for
your business if you have a brand new name no one ever hear of before? Make an
unusual logo and use it wherever your business advertises (and advertise a
lot!). That is what Cingular has done with their logo and business. The graphic
that looks like a refugee from a game of jacks (nobody plays that anymore)
bounces everywhere and even acts human. It gave their business a recognizable
character in short order, and a good logo can do the same for your business. You
may have to wait a little longer if you don't have the advertising budget, but
your logo can really make your business instantly recognizable. |

As a company logo, this one has always seemed
smart. Since covering legs is their business, the symbol conveys that well. But
since it was packaged in egg-shaped containers, it was a stroke of commerce
genius. Whether the graphic designers intended for the apostrophe to make it appear
as if it were a contraction of French words, I can't say, but it seems to be the
case. As a case of an icon integrated with the packaging, it may be
unique. You will certainly need to put your thinking cap -- but remember, all the good ideas haven't been taken yet! |
