Church logos vary drastically in form and content. This
one illustrates a beautiful confluence of messages related to the mission and
goal of the church. In this logo is obviously the stained glass look that
reminds us of a formal church setting. The church's mission to the world is
reflected in the world shape of the logo, with the cross in the center
reflecting the message of the church itself. The church name surrounding the
logo graphic ties it all together. Although simple, a church logo can be
powerful and beautiful at the same time, as this one proves. If you have the
responsibility or opportunity to design a church logo, look at this one closely
and examine its elements and how they fit together. Use the elements of your own
church's message and method to make a logo that fits. |

This church logo is also an approach using
stylized elements to convey the purpose of the church. Here the cross is also
central in the logo as it is in the church, flanked by fire symbols representing
the Holy Spirit. The overall effect of the logo is circular, encompassed by the
church name. Although simple, the total effect it of a unified approach to
convey by logo the purpose of the church. It proves that the same elements can
be displayed in many different ways in a logo, whether your purpose is for a
church or otherwise. |

A significantly different approach to a church logo is shown
here, with an angel and trumpet providing the evidence of the purpose of the
church. The celebration name is integrated to convey the good news of the church
proclamation, and the first letter appearing to be flowing directly from the
trumpet makes the announcement aspect of the logo more clear. Although it
is well done, the lack of a bounding shape gives this logo a different feel and
perhaps a lack of cohesiveness, although the church message is conveyed.
Depending on the feel you want your church logo to have, consider the different
effect of an overall shape such as a circle. |

A look at this church logo would lead one to
believe it was designed by a committee. Such a design origin tends to pull into
a logo a little bit of everyone's ideas, without an overall sense of unity that
a logo (and a church!) should have. It is of course easy to be critical of some
else's logo, without having gone through the process of doing logo design
yourself. If your church has given you that responsibility, use these examples
as a starting point for your logo, but remember that in logos as in many other
areas, less ends up being more. |
